Financial support for attending ICSE is available for graduate students and early-career faculty via two programs, the SIGSOFT CAPS program and the NSF ICSE 2017 travel fund awards. Please see information below for descriptions of the program and how to apply.

NSF ICSE 2017 Travel Award and SIGSOFT CAPS program applications are due by March 17, 2017

NSF ICSE 2017 Travel Award

The U.S. National Science Foundation has generously provided $36K of support for student and early-career faculty participation in ICSE 2017. The NSF ICSE 2017 Travel Award Committee will evaluate applications for travel support based on merit, potential to contribute to research in software engineering in the U.S., and potential to increase the diversity of the pool of software engineering researchers in the U.S. Students not chosen for the NSF Travel Award will be automatically entered for consideration for the SIGSOFT CAPS awards.

Priority for the awards will be given to:

• U.S. citizens and permanent residents
• Students and faculty at U.S. institutions
• Students and faculty whose participation improves the diversity of computing research
• Applicants who could not attend without a travel award
• U.S.-based students and faculty members who are authors of papers accepted to the technical program, an ICSE workshop, or a co-located event

To apply, please use the SIGSOFT CAPS application form (https://awards.sigsoft.org/CAPS/). In the field “Types of CAPS Fund to Apply,” please choose “other” and specify “NSF Travel Award” in the text box. Applications are due by March 17, 2017.

SIGSOFT CAPS

The SIGSOFT CAPS program offers three distinct services to support conference attendance for SIGSOFT student members, SIGSOFT professional members, as well as non-member undergraduate students.

• The CAPS-GRAD program provides travel support for graduate students who are SIGSOFT student members
• The CAPS-UG program offers travel support for undergraduate students, and is open to non-members
• The CAPS-KIDS program provides travel support to help defray cost of childcare (open to SIGSOFT student and professional members)
